Pausing or canceling your HeyGen subscription is quick and simple, whether you're using the Desktop or the App. Check out the step-by-step guides below to get started!
Looking to spend less instead of canceling?
If you want to lower your costs while keeping access to premium features, consider downgrading your plan rather than canceling completely. Standard downgrades take effect automatically at the end of your current billing cycle.
š”Canceling stops future recurring charges, but it does not automatically refund past charges. Refunds are handled separately according to our refund policy (e.g., within 15 days for web purchases; Apple and Google Play refunds are governed by their respective store policies). Please reach out to Support for more help.
Cancel or Pause Your HeyGen Subscription on Desktop
šØ Note on Legacy Unlimited Plans:
Legacy Unlimited plans were decommissioned and are no longer offered past May 15th, 2026. You can keep your existing Unlimited plan for as long as your subscription remains active and in good standing. Please note that if you cancel or switch to a credit-based plan, this change is permanent and you will not be able to return to a legacy plan.
Add-ons: Canceling on your own cancels your whole subscription, including the plan. To remove just an add-on and keep your main plan active, contact support and the team will take care of it for you.
Click on your name initial or Profile picture in the bottom-left corner of the home screen, and click on Settings to open your account settings.
Find the "Plan & Billing" option in the left-side-menu and click on it.
In the Plan section, look for the down
arrow next to the "Manage Billing" button.Click on the arrow, then select the Cancel Plan button to complete the unsubscribe process or Pause Plan to temporarily pause your payments.
Complete the short feedback prompts and click Continue Canceling/Pausing to confirm.
Once you cancel your plan, the subscription will only cancel at the end of the current billing cycle, so you can still create videos until the end of your subscription!
šļø Note: Pausing your plan does not cancel it entirely; it simply postpones the next charge by 30 days from your last billing cycle date [it does not pause indefinitely].
Please note that while paused, your account is inactive and paid features are unavailable. Pausing your plan expires your credit balance entirely. Any unused credits will be permanently lost when the pause takes effect, and they will not be added back to your account when your subscription resumes.
If you'd like to 'Pause Indefinitely', we recommend canceling your account. All of your amazing content will still be accessible when you're ready to sign back up!
Pausing: How it Works (Timeline Example)
Pausing your plan postpones your next charge by exactly one billing cycle (usually 30 days).
Here is an example of what happens when you pause:
January 1: You purchase a monthly plan.
January 15: You click "Pause Plan" in your settings.
February 1: You retain normal, full access to your plan until the end of your current cycle (Feb 1).
Pause Active (Feb 1 ā Mar 1): Your account temporarily switches to the Free plan. ā ļø Important: At this exact moment, your credit balance expires entirely. Unused credits are permanently lost and will not return when your subscription resumes.
March 1 (Automatic Resume): Your plan automatically reactivates and you are billed for the new month.
Resuming Early:
If you decide you need your plan back before the automatic resume date, you can manually unpause your account (for example, on February 17th). When you unpause, you will be charged immediately, instantly regain access to your paid features, and this new date (the 17th) will become your new monthly billing date moving forward.
Billing Cycle & Annual Plans
When you cancel, your account remains fully active until the end of your current billing cycle. For Annual Plans, your access continues through the remainder of your paid year; unused months are not prorated or automatically refunded upon cancellation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
I thought I cancelled my plan - why are you still sending invoices?
If your account shows as Free or paused, but you continue to receive payment notifications, you likely paused your plan rather than canceled it (paused accounts automatically resume after 30 days). Please reach out to [email protected]. We would be happy to get that sorted for you!
ā
āIf I cancel my account, will I lose my videos / avatars?
No! You will not lose your content. When your paid billing cycle ends, your account moves to the Free Plan:
Videos: All previously rendered videos remain saved and accessible under Projects.
Avatars: Your available avatar slots drop to the Free plan limit of 1 slot. Any extra avatars beyond 1 will become locked/unavailable (not deleted) until you resubscribe to a paid plan.
What happens to my unused credits if I cancel my plan?
If you cancel your paid plan and your account downgrades to the Free tier at the end of your billing cycle, any remaining unused credits will expire. They do not roll over or remain on your account once the plan is fully canceled.
Can I get a prorated refund if I cancel early?
Canceling your subscription stops any future recurring charges, but we do not automatically provide prorated refunds for the remaining time left in your billing cycle. You will continue to have full access to your paid features and credits until the end of your current subscription period.
If I cancel my legacy unlimited plan, can I change my mind and get it back?
No. Because legacy unlimited plans (Creator, Pro, Business, or Team Unlimited) are no longer sold, canceling is a permanent change. If you decide to resubscribe in the future, you will need to select one of our current credit-based plans.
How do I completely delete my HeyGen account?
Canceling your subscription only stops your payments and moves you to a Free plan. If you wish to permanently delete your account and all associated data, you must navigate to Settings > Account and select Delete Account.
