What Is Face Swap?
Face Swap allows you to replace the face of any HeyGen avatar with a face from an uploaded photo. The system automatically maps facial features and lighting to create a realistic result while keeping the avatar’s movements and expressions intact.
It’s especially useful for:
Giving your avatar a custom appearance that resembles you or your brand representative
Creating unique looks for different projects or campaigns
Experimenting with visual styles for marketing, training, or entertainment
How to Access FaceSwap
Go to your HeyGen homepage.
Click Apps → All Apps → Face Swap.
You’ll be redirected to the Face Swap interface.
How to Use Face Swap
Upload a Source image
Choose the source image that you want to modify.
Upload the Target face
Upload a clear, front-facing photo of the person whose face you want to apply. Make sure the photo is well-lit and unobstructed.
Process the Swap
Click on the Process button, it will automatically process and apply the new face to your selected avatar. You’ll see a real-time preview of the result. will automatically process and apply the new face to your selected avatar. You’ll see a real-time preview of the result.
4. Save or Create a video with your avatar
Once you’re satisfied with how it looks, click Save Avatar button to finalize your customized avatar. You can then use this avatar in your AI Studio projects or other HeyGen apps.
The Create Video button will automatically input your avatar into our Video Agent to create a video with it.
Note:
Make sure to choose a photo that's at least 720p.
For best results, choose a well-lit photo with a clearly visible face, looking directly at the camera.
Avoid photos that show side profiles, are overexposed or blurry, include masks, or feature cartoon-style images.
