1. Open the tool

Hover over the Create button, then hover over Apps, and select Product Placement from the dropdown.

2. Upload a Product Image and an Avatar

You can upload photos of the product you’d like to feature and select an avatar of your choice. Alternatively, you can choose from our sample products and avatars available in the library.

Note: For best results, use a handheld or small product, as the tool is optimized for these types of objects. Larger items—such as desks or tables—may appear scaled down to fit naturally in the avatar’s hand.

3. Combine and Generate the Image and Avatar

Once you’re satisfied with your selected image and avatar, click Generate Combined Images.

Note: Image generation may take up to 60 seconds. You can safely close the modal and return later to view the results.

4. Choose a combined image

Choose any of the four generated combined images of the product.

Once selected, click Next: Add a script.

5. Choose a Model: Avatar IV

I
f you select Avatar IV, you can either write your own script or click Surprise Me to automatically generate a randomized one.

Note: It’s fine if your script slightly exceeds 2,520 characters, but your video must remain under 180 seconds to generate successfully.

You can also upload or record an audio file to serve as the voice for your avatar’s dialogue. If you enable Voice Mirroring, the selected voice will match your recording’s style, emotion, and tone for a more natural result.

Choose a voice for your script that best fits your video’s tone and personality. You can select from your own custom-created voices or explore the extensive options available in the HeyGen Voice Library. Use the search bar to find public voices, or create a new one directly within the platform. For even greater flexibility, you can integrate third-party voice tools such as ElevenLabs or LMNT to bring your preferred voice style into HeyGen.

Lastly, you’ll have the option to add a Custom Motion. Simply describe the gestures or facial expressions you’d like your avatar to perform. Based on your description, suggested motion prompts will appear at the bottom for you to choose from. If none fit your vision, click the refresh icon to generate a new set of options. If you leave this field blank, HeyGen will automatically apply natural movements that match your image and script.

Once you’ve added your Custom Motion prompt, choose the resolution for your video — either 720p or 1080p. When you’re satisfied with your settings, click Generate Video to begin the creation process.

6. Choose a Model: Veo 3.1

If you select Veo 3.1, you’ll have the ability to add multiple scenes, each with its own script. You can describe each scene in detail — including the actions and dialogue. Scenes are separated by a brief pause before the next one begins.

Whatever gestures or dialogue you assign to the avatar will be performed exactly as described. Each scene lasts 8 seconds, allowing you to estimate your total video length based on the number of scenes you include.

Note: You can add up to 8 scenes (8 seconds each).

Choose a voice that best matches your video’s tone and personality. You can enable the Generate Voice to Match Video option for automatic voice syncing, or manually select from your own custom-created voices. You can also explore the extensive HeyGen Voice Library—use the search bar to discover public voices or create a new one directly within the platform. For added flexibility, integrate third-party voice tools like ElevenLabs or LMNT to bring your preferred voice style into HeyGen.

Once you’ve selected your voice and finalized your scripts, click Generate Video to begin production.

Note: Each scene consumes 30 credits. You’ll see an indicator at the bottom showing how many scene generations are available based on your remaining credits.
