🛎️ Under the EU AI Act as a provider, HeyGen is responsible for three specific things, and we're committed to having them in place by December 2, 2026:
Invisible Watermark: an invisible marker applied to HeyGen AI-generated content
Metadata: embedded information that provides information on the provenance of the HeyGen AI-generated content
A verification mechanism: a way to verify whether a content was generated from HeyGen.
What's up to you: As you are the deployer of HeyGen’s AI-Generated content, you must decide on how to declare to your audience that your content was created with AI. This can typically come in the form of a visible mark (even for that there are different types), and can vary based on the type of media you’re making and where you’re posting them to. Unfortunately, HeyGen can not make that labeling decision for you.
The European Commission has created a set of labels and icons that it treats as the standard going forward. You can find them here: EU icons for labelling AI-generated content. It is highly recommended that you review these labels and understand the context in which they’re used.

Our Commitment to Compliance
AI System Provider
Recognized under Article 3(3) of the EU AI Act, HeyGen operates as a provider of AI systems. We acknowledge the responsibilities this entails and strive to meet all associated obligations.
AI Literacy and Workforce Training
In alignment with Article 4 of the EU AI Act, our team is highly proficient in AI technologies. We invest in continuous education, ensuring our workforce is well-versed in both the capabilities and the risks associated with AI and personal data.
Legality of the AI Systems
HeyGen does not develop AI systems related to prohibited AI practices outlined in Article 5 of the EU AI Act.
Risk Assessment of AI Systems
Our AI systems are not classified as high-risk under Chapter III Annex III of the EU AI Act. We also do not provide general-purpose AI systems as described in the Act. Our expertise is concentrated on delivering advanced AI Avatar technologies tailored to specific user needs.
Transparency and User Awareness
Complying with Chapter IV (Articles 50.2 and 50.4 of the EU AI Act), we are transparent about the AI-generated nature of content on our platform. Clear disclosures are provided throughout our website, terms of service, and privacy policies to keep users informed.
